Coastal areas are expected to experience most certain and most costly consequence of climate change. Coastal communities require improved tools to understand and anticipate the magnitude and likelihood of these future events; forecast associated impacts; and develop locally effective adaptation policies and actions.
Coastal erosion and flooding that is intensified by climate change may disproportionally affect native tribes – Native Americans and Alaska Natives – as they are more directly dependent on natural resources. However at the same time they have the understanding of natural processes their tribe has been subjected for centuries, thus we can learn from them.
